Celebrating 31 Years of Deepalaya’s Impact

Since inception:

Deepalaya Mansik Swasthya Evam Viklang Punarwas Sansthan is a non-profit voluntary organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and welfare of marginalized groups in Purnia. Established in 1991 as the region’s first rehabilitation center under Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and officially registered as a Society in 1999 under the Society Registration Act XXI of 1860, Deepalaya focuses on supporting persons with disabilities, women, and children in distress, as well as rural and semi-urban women. The organization undertakes a variety of programs, including social work initiatives, women’s empowerment projects, the formation of self-help groups (SHGs), and running a specialized rehabilitation center for individuals with mental challenges. In addition to providing health and human services, Deepalaya is involved in social research, offering training, implementing field interventions, and contributing to the development of welfare policies at both state and national levels. Its reputation as one of the oldest and most respected NGOs in the area comes from its commitment to promoting sustainable, equitable, and participatory development.

We envision equal opportunity, protection of rights, and full participation for persons with disabilities, women, children, and minorities.

To actively contribute towards the social and economical development of the communities through constant professional endeavors, empowering the person with differential ability, downtrodden people, and disadvantaged groups towards the development of a sustainable society that promotes and protects equality, social justice, and human rights for all.

Values

1. Equity & Justice

We work to dismantle barriers so everyone can access the opportunities they deserve.

3. Inclusion & Participation

We create spaces where every voice is heard and every person is empowered to lead.

2. Respect & Dignity

We value every person, honor their lived realities, and treat them with humanity.

4. Accountability, Transparency & Integrity

We stay answerable to our communities and partners and remain open in how we work.

These values guide how we work, how we make decisions, and how we engage with every child, adult, and partner we serve. They’re not just principles we talk about-they’re practices we follow every day. We expect the same spirit from our team and everyone who walks this journey with us. When we uphold these values together, we create spaces where people feel respected, included, and supported to grow. That is the organisation we’re committed to being.
